Welcome to the Geraldton Basketball History page, a collection of all things basketball in the Midwest, Western Australia. This page is a work in progress and at this stage, mainly contributions from private collections. We have ‘boxes’ of photos and information still to be uploaded so this page will be updated almost on a daily basis for the next few months.
The association was officially named the Geraldton Amateur Basketball Association in 1960, which also commenced the planning to build three courts on Sanford Street. Of the eight teams originally nominated, the Trades basketball club was the only club to survive the fifties, although Railways reformed in 1962 and YCW changed its name to Olympians in 1958.
